These are now on sale - well worth booking in advance - only around 20,000 tickets max per night available.

If you go to the Magic Kingdom on the days this event takes place you will have to leave at 5pm. The doors re-open for the event about 6.30ish but the rides don't open until 7pm.

Go and get your free family photo taken first as the queues are not too long at opening.

There are two parades and the first is always very busy and the park is therefore quiet - go and do the popular rides then, altho waits are not too long on much on these nights.

Hi all,

We will be spending our very first Christmas in Florida this year - I think Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a must! but what do you suggest for Christmas Day - a theme park or a restaurant - or do you have any other ideas?

Suggestions welcome!

Mo

I would suggest you stay well away from the parks on Christmas day - they get absolutely packed and I believe Disney often close their gates before mid morning on Christmas Day. It is lovely to get the atmosphere but because they offer the Christmas Party lots of other days why try and cram it all into the one day?

We are thinking of spending Christmas over in Florida and I can't think of anything better than swimming and BBQ-ing - something we would never do for Christmas here.

We stayed at the GF one year over Christmas and drove out about 11:00 and at that time the park had closed the entry to the parking pay booths. The queue of cars waiting to get in went all the way back to the EPCOT turn off.

This is not how you want to spend Christmas day.

Regards Dave

We spent Christmas Day by the pool and then went out to eat at Fridays - a few extra entertainers etc were there, but a few places do do something special, we will try some next time we visit at Christmas.

We opened our presents at the villa (we took half with us for the kids and bought the rest when we go there - Walmarts is great for stocking fillers! and they got such different pressies that year) Had a long leisurely breakfast and then played in the pool all day - a great day but you are not going to believe this but I missed the cold weather, but only on that one day!!!!!

We were advised by our MC to avoid the parks too.

I don't think Disney discount any of their special ticketed events - I did ask for Halloween once but had to pay full price.

So the last date for this event is the 17th! I thought it would run until closer to Christmas and maybe even a few days after. Has it always ended this early in the month??

Hi all,

If this party is anything on the lines of Disney's Backyard BBQ which we enjoyed back in 1999 - then there's no way we are going to miss it.

We tucked in to unlimited food & drink and we danced the night away in the company of Mickey & Minnie - it was fantastic getting so close to Mick & Minn - it made our time there unforgettable.

Here's to the next up close and personal party!

Cheerio,

Mo

This party was absolutely brilliant and definately to be recommended for future years.

One tip - arrive at the park early and you start 'partying' at 6pm rather than 7pm with everyone else. We got our complimentary photo done before the queues got too long and jumped on lots of the rides whilst it was quiet.

Celebrate the Season was a great show with lots of singers and dancers as well as all the usual characters - they even had time to change their clothes during the performance.

Belles storytime was the Christmas story and she was wearing her Christmas outfit - it was really lovely and she picked a very small child from the audience to be the Christmas decorater - her face was a picture when she thought she had 'magic-ed' the Christmas lights to come on.

As always wishes was great - I think they added on to this but because we watched it from behind the castle for the first time I wasn't sure what was new and what was old.

The cocoa and cookies were free all night - it was ideal to have them when you were waiting for the parade later on - it wasn't cold but it was a little nippy.

There was a disco held in Fantasyland and there was always at least two characters dancing with the children - it was a real treat for everyone. In addition they had Cinderella, Aurora and Snow White out in the park with their princes - the queues for these were very very long.

The parade itself was spectacular - I don't think I have ever seen Disney put on such a long parade and they had lots of characters in it - including the country bears and kanga, roo and rabbit from Winnie the Pooh. It started with all the traditional characters outside their respective 'homes', then went on to the princesses - Aurora and her prince rode on horseback, Ariel & Eric rode in a carriage and Cinderella and Prince Charming were in their glass coach. There was also lots of Christmas characters (gingerbread men, reindeers, soldiers and elves) together with the characters from Toy Story and they were all interspersed with brass bands. Father Christmas ended the parade and then, as you leave the park (like most people do after the parade) it snows all down main street. You have some fabulous decorations all down Main Street and at the end there is an enormous Christmas Tree that is all lit up. All the time we were at the park (day or night) they had Christmas music being played - we didn't get sick of it but I am sure the cast members are!!!

From the time sheet it looks as though the parade and some of the shows will be available in the park for the next week or so - if you are going to be in Florida it is worth going to see them.
