Car Insurance
I have looked through some of the links regarding car insurance and can't seem to find an answer.
We have just booked a car (on the internet) direct to pick up at the airport.
I would to like know how to insure it for 20 days, will we just add that on when we arrive or is it better to insure prior to travel?
Many thanks in advance Elaine

Car insurance of some kind is usually included. To get full cover we usually buy a Gold or Platinum option when we book the car.

Always make sure that you book everything you need in the UK as we get rates that are under half what you pay in the U.S.
Anything you add in the the U.S. will cost you a lot more. Also be careful as the car hire people are on commission if they can sell upgrades or
extras. They will offer upgrades to a better car for only $10 a day but once you add on the taxes you finish up paying an extra $200 for your two week
break.

I got really stung on this.
I have freinds in the U.S. who got me a great deal (or so I thought) by booking direct with Alamo. I got 20 days for $420, but when I picked the car
up, I was told that as I was a UK resident, this did not include any insurance and they promtly hit me for another $456.00 !! Ouch.
At 10pm at night after a long flight you have no option but to pay it and lick your wounds later.
I could have got it a lot cheaper by booking it all in the UK before i went....oh well lesson learn't.
